FAA Workshop

On Thursday 13th of June, 14:30 to 17:45, a Workshop will be presented by FAA’s R&D Team. No participation fee is required. All registered participants to the 8th ICONBMP are welcome to attend it.

The topic of this workshop is “Airport pavement design-FAARFIELD 2.0” and the aim is to familiarize the attendees with the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA’s) recently developed software in airfield pavements. FAARFIELD 2.0 (FAA
Rigid and Flexible Iterative Elastic Layered Design) was introduced in June 2021.
FAARFIELD 2.0 is the FAA’s standard software for airport pavement thickness design and evaluation (AC 150/5320-6G, Airport Pavement Design and Evaluation) and pavement strength reporting using the ACR/PCR method (AC 150/5335-6D, Standardized Method of Reporting Pavement Strength – PCR). FAARFIELD 2.0 features include:

  1. A completely redesigned graphical user interface (GUI) with improved screen flow and explorer-based navigation.
  2. Support for the new ICAO ACR-PCR system.
  3. New graphical vehicle-aircraft editor provides the ability to add, save and edit user-defined vehicles-aircrafts.
  4. Updated aircraft library.
  5. Ability to work with multiple jobs/sections at once.

This FAA software workshop is intended for airport Operators, Consultants, and
others with a practical interest in airport pavement design. Participants in the
workshop will:

  1. Learn the principles of pavement design & pavement analysis using FAA software including FAARFIELD 2.0.
  2. Experience hands-on demonstrations of the FAARFIELD software, with examples.
  3. Learn about ICAO’s ACR/PCR system that replaces ACN/PCN system.

It is highly recommended that workshop participants bring their own laptops so they
can install FAARFIELD 2.0 to follow along through the training and pavement
design examples.

During the works of the Conference there will be an exhibition area where companies and Organizations will exhibit their products and activities.
